- Confucius (551 BC-479 BC) - wisdom
Consideration for others is the basic of a good life, a good society!
- Confucius (551 BC-479 BC) - wisdom
If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear?
- Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus) 65 BCE – 8 BCE
One can escape from society, but one cannot escape from himself.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
- What is the relationship between you, the misery and confusion that are around you? Apparently they did not create themselves out of thin air. You and I created them, not the society. You and I created them in the course of our relationship. What you are, your essence has been projected outside - on society.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
Thought is based on yesterday, the past. And while the thought operates in the field of time while we think about the future and change, about profit, while we want to achieve something we will have conflicts because we will not be able to face with what is now. Only after we realize, understand absolutely what is now, we will get rid of the contradictions, that are destructive factor.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
The current crisis is unique as it is in the field of ideas. We justify the murder if it is in the name of noble goals. In other words, we sacrifice the present for the future and for us it doesn’t matter what methods we use provided we move closer to a cherished target, which we believe to be of man’s benefit (but we do not know that).
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
Do we need a guru? Is it possible to find your truth through someone else? – Man usually needs a leader when he is confused. If you're lucky, if you do not have problems, and if you fully understand life you will seek no guru. You are looking for a guru to tell you how to live, to explain your confusion, to help you find the truth. I.e. you choose a guru, who will satisfy your requests, you choose him according to how well he will please you. Therefore you do not look for truth, but for a path to escape from the confusion, and that path you erroneously call truth.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
The system has become more important than people. You and I have lost significance. Those who control the ideas, social or religious, liberals or conservatives, rule the world, govern and scarify the individual. And the reason for that is the failure of the moral and spiritual values. Nowadays, the sensuous values, created by the mind and the body dominate.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
Society does not exist for itself. It is what you and I are created by our relationship; it is an external projection of our inner psychological states. So if you and I have no awareness of ourselves, if we do not understand ourselves in respect to how we treat the others, then we could not achieve significant positive change. And one more thing, understanding means now, not tomorrow. Tomorrow is for the lazy mind which does not care. When you are interested in something, you do it immediately.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
You cannot find the truth by someone else. The truth is not static, , it is not a goal. Rather, it is alive, dynamic, vibrant. The truth is the unknown and the mind, seeking truth will never find it because the mind is made up of knowledge, the mind is a result of the past. The truth will haunt the mind, freed from the known. The mind is a store of the known. In order the mind to be in condition that allows the unknown to appear, it must have full awareness of itself, its previous experience, the subconscious world, and its reactions and structure. When you reach full knowledge of yourself, then consciousness is completely released from the known. Only then can the truth come to you uninvited. The truth does not belong to you or me. You cannot exalt it a cult. There is no road that leads to the truth. You must enter an uncharted sea alone.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
- Identification with something big (party, religion, nation, great idea) is a psychological necessity for those for whom self-esteem is important, but it creates conflicts and clashes between people (in the name of "right" faith are committed the greatest number of murders). Faith gives people food, but at the same time it is a source of uncertainty. One can understand this only when he develops his intelligence - the ability to see things as they are.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
- We approach our generation problems, not with love and insight, but with ready formulas and systems – even though they are outdated, incorrect and inefficient. But true people should not follow formulas, because they lead to "blind” thinking. Addiction to formulas is almost universal, because our educational system teaches What to think rather than HOW to think. What one must do to meet the new challenge is to fully undress himself, to reject his origin and environment and to meet the challenge with a new approach. Only deep and creative understanding of ourselves can create a happy world.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
Correct thinking is not a result of intellect cultivation, nor it is an adaptation to the authority, regardless how valuable and noble s/he is. Correct thinking comes with self-knowledge. There is a hope for a better future and it is in people, not in society, not in leaders or religious systems. The hope is in you and me. Until we – the people - do not change there is no way the organizations, we’ve created, to improve...
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
When we are poor inside, we attach to external ostentation by wealth, authority, possessions. If our hearts are empty, we store belongings.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
We have forgotten the kindness, we have forgotten to watch the stars, the trees, the reflections in the water. We constantly chase new excitements and thrills, we feel the overwhelming desire for other sensations. It is these desires and their satisfaction that weaken and dull our minds and hearts.
- Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) - wisdom
Happiness is never achieved by a system of ideas. Self-improvement, which is another way of supporting our ego, of providing safety for "Me" and "Mine”, is neither creative, nor love of beauty.
- U.G.Krishnamurti (1918-2007)
Nature is busy with creating absolutely unique individuals, whereas culture has created a universal mold to which we all must adapt. (Aiming for that perfect person is responsible for many of our problems and unhappiness)
- U.G.Krishnamurti (1918-2007)
What does a man want? The man wants to be happy without a single moment of unhappiness. He constantly seeks pleasure with no pain. That is his primary drive – constancy and invariability. This drive creates all the religious thinking – God, The Truth, The Reality. Nothing in life lasts forever, and yet we want to have anything eternal.
- U.G.Krishnamurti (1918-2007) - quote
- Hereinafter salvation will not come from spiritual values or the moral or the "Love your neighbor as yourself", but from the fear that our very existence is at stake. We can not survive if the man, next to us doesn’t survive. What will save us is the way the body works, the way animals function, rather than cooperation based on love and brotherhood. Animals do not kill their kinds in the name of any ideology or God (they kill only to survive and leave the leftover for other living beings).
